Matthew Neves was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts on May 2, 1984. He got his first guitar when he was four and taught himself to play. At age ten, Matthew was writing and producing his own music. By twelve, he could proficiently play guitar, bass, keyboards and drums.


In 1998, Matthew founded DemoticA, a three-piece Rock/Metal band that performed solely original music. The band released two albums; “The War Against The Trend” and “Unbreakable.”


In 2004, Matthew ventured to become a solo artist, and from 2005 to 2007, he took a break from live performances to write and produce songs in his private recording studio.

In July 2008, Matthew opened for Chuck Negron (former Lead Singer of Three Dog Night) at Madeira Field in Massachusetts. Matthew performed renditions of songs from various projects before a highly energized audience of over 15,000.

In December 2008, Matthew performed at the Sky Room in New Bedford, MA with
national headliner, Nina Sky.

In June 2010, Matthew released his debut Pop/Rock album, Everybody Dreams. This
world-class album features ten captivating songs, all of which were produced, composed,
arranged, and performed by Matthew. The album got rave reviews including a 4/4 in IAE
Magazine and 5/5 in ReviewYou. As Rebecca Hosking of Skope Magazine described,
“This [album] is a solid body of work that demands your attention. Matthew Neves
created a new genre.”

In July 2011, Matthew released his debut music video for “In The End.” The video has
been has been well received in many media outlets including MTV and YouTube.

In January of 2012, Matthew stopped performing at live events, put his sophomore
album, You and Me on hold, and began focusing on producing songs for X-Factor
finalist, Jennel Garcia.


In December of 2012 he was the feature artist for one of New England's biggest TV shows,

NECN The Morning Show.

In 2013, Matthew performed with Jennel Garcia at various venues including Nagle
Auditorium in Fall River, MA and the Showcase Live (Patriot Place) in Foxboro, MA.

In August, 2013 Matthew released his second album entitled You And Me. The album
features fourteen original songs, all produced, composed, arranged, and performed by
Matthew. You and Me received rave reviews from critics including 5/5 stars from Alexa
Spieler of Review You, who stated "You and Me is a remarkable performance. Such a
unique, edgy release restores faith in a lacking genre and grants Matthew Neves endless
potential." Ray Cavanaugh of Skope Magazine wrote: "Neves sure can shred when he
wants to. Goodness me, sounds like New Bedford has its own Dimebag Darrell!"

Matthew released his second music video for "Eyes of an Angel" in October of 2013 and
his third for "Impossible" in December of the same year. Both videos have very done
well on MTV and YouTube.

In August 2014, Matthew headlined the Mercedes Benz Red Carpet - Kids Fighting
Cancer event at the Marina Grande at the Halifax in Holly Hill, Florida.

In September, 2014 Matthew released his third album, Diligence. The album features
twelve original songs, all produced, composed, arranged, and performed by the artist.
He released his fourth music video for "Butterflies" from this album, which has been
steadily gaining popularity on his MTV and YouTube channels.

In October, 2014 Matthew began writing a series of musical pieces for Mass In Motion,
an agency that promotes a healthy lifestyle for children through public service

In April, 2015 Matthew was nominated in two categories in the 14th Annual Independent
Music Awards (IMAs) for Best Pop Song with his Internet radio hit, "Sunday" and for
Best Acoustic Song for his YouTube hit, "Butterflies." Both songs are from his latest
album Diligence.


In January, 2016 Matthew released his sixth major video, "I've Been So Far Away", from

his debut album, Everybody Dreams. The single was one of the artist's biggest hits to

date and the video has been well received.


In April 16, 2016 Matthew won "Best Video of the Year” in the 8th Annual Limelight Magazine

Music Awards. He was nominated in two categories , for “Best Video of the Year” and

Breakthrough Artist of the Year” with his radio hit Today is the Day, from his latest album



During 2018 thru 2020, Matthew has been working on film and video production projects with various artists.


Currently, Matthew is working on a new album that is tentatively scheduled for release in late 2021.
